Cubs Visit Temora Warbird Airshow

The day started early with all meeting at the Airport and half the cubs flying to Temora with Jabiru in his Aircraft. The rest had a 3hour drive ahead of us. Both the flight and the drive were uneventful although Jabiru enjoyed the extra traffic and landing in front of a crowd on his arrival at Temora.

The static and flying displays during the day were excellent. With highlight seeing Connie flying it is a big lumbering 4 engine passenger liner that was very graceful although somewhat Smokey on start up. Was fun to watch them push it back down the runway and then start it near the fire engines. It was hard to tell if it was starting or burning.

The day was hot, dusty and windy but little complaint from the cubs. We sat near the classic cars and the leaders drooled over the aircraft and the cars.

The highlight of the day was to see the P40 Kitty Hawk, P51 Mustang, F86 Sabre, Meteor and FA-18 flying together in a tribute the 75 Sqn RAAF and then the FA-18 peel off and give a special show. It is amazing how such a powerful plane can just seem to stop in the air.

Tired and hot the cubs swapped places and drove and flew back to Canberra.
