UN Emergency Mission
Monday 3 November 2014

Tonight the Air Scouts Cubs were on a UN Peacekeeping Mission in the provence of Deakin.  They were supporting a fragile peace between the government and the separatists and were landed in disputed territory next to the local church (Latrobe Park Scout Hall).

So after brainstorming some priorities inside the church, they took to the outdoors to find water, build a fire, make an improvised shelter and set up an evacuation/resupply point.  There were many bushcraft skills learned from Craig, one of  our wonderful dads and designer of this hands-on program.  We are sharing this program with other Scout Groups it was so exciting.

Brainstorming session - which are the most important resources?

A couple of methods of finding water for survival in the outdoors...

Now to set up some emergency shelters...

A fire is essential too...

And finally set up an evacuation & supply point - a helipad...
