scarf

History: Air Scouts Canberra is into its fifth year, however the origin of our founder Groups trace back to 1925. Our scarf colours represent the combined of 2nd Canberra and 1st Yarralumla Scout Groups. more...

Youth Program: Scouting has always taken new challenges with every generation. Without losing the down to earth, active outdoors approach to developing young people, Air Scouts Canberra is adding the new dimensions of air and space. In Air Scouts, the Scouting program focusses on these themes as well as traditional Scout skills and actvities. more...

Location: Our hall is at Latrobe Park in Deakin, at the top end of Melbourne Ave, opposite Girls' Grammar School. Entry is off Gawler Cres. An Air Activities Centre is established at Canberra Airport, in conjunction with Canberra Aero Club, and contacts with other local aviation organisations provide ongoing opportunities for air and space related activities. more...

Ages: Each age section meets on a different day of the week, all now starting at 6pm:

Transition: Age on transition between sections varies, depending on individual maturity and readiness to start in the new section. New starters tend to come in at the young end of an older section, as opposed to the old end of a younger section, so that they don't need to transition to the next section in the short term.

Jonathon's Farewell
30 Jun - Jonathon's Farewell
After 4 years as a dedicated and much respected Cub Leader Jonathon Mandl is stepping down. Here is an extract from Jonathon's farewell email
"Thanks from the heart for all messages of farewell from official ‘Akela’ Cub Scout leader duties with the Mirrabooka Cub Scout Pack at Air Scouts Canberra.
It’s been a pleasure and great enjoyment to have worked with and for the benefit of our younger generation experiencing the worldwide Scouting movement – which after all is a Youth Movement – developing our future Community Leaders - spiritual + physical + intellectual. We’ve shared a lot of history together and I trust Cubs have enjoyed many highlights.
I know Eric and Max have enjoyed the company of their fellow Cubs and Scouts, and as a family we have gotten more out of the Scouting experience than we have put in over 4 years – as odd as that may sound (but true!)
I look forward to introducing our temporary Term 3 Akela, Fiona McKinnon, ACT Cub Scout Commissioner to you next Term, at first meeting back on Monday July 21 – 6pm.
The search for new Leaders in our Cub Section continues in absolute urgency, we must find 2-3 volunteers - and there will need to be a weekly Parent-help roster to run the activities in each meeting. I know everyone will rally to the cause for our Cubs sake."

In Case of Emergency
Nearly all of us carry a mobile phone with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.
If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending to us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Who is the contact person in case of an emergency?
This campaign is called "ICE" (short for In Case of Emergency). The concept is catching on quickly.
Store the number of a contact person(s) who should be contacted during emergency under the name "ICE" (In Case Of Emergency).
For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3, etc. Be sure it's in your kid's cell phones als
